My work · About Jamie

A teacher’s heart.
A writer’s attention.
A builder’s instinct.

Long before I became a teacher, I learned the power of being taken seriously. The women who raised me held learning sacred and never let me doubt what I was capable of. They read my schoolwork, encouraged my questions, and paid close attention to my voice. Their care became the foundation for a life spent helping others discover the authority and possibility in their own.

In a college political science class, the idea of a social contract gave shape to that conviction: we have a responsibility to use our voices and skills in the communities we belong to. Teaching became my way of putting that belief into practice. School leadership and program development widened the work, connecting individual learning with the structures that help a community flourish.

A life-changing move to Mexico opened a new chapter in my writing and brought me into literary community. Today, I bring an educator’s attention, a writer’s curiosity, and a builder’s instinct to programs where learning, creativity, and belonging can grow together.

If something here speaks to what you’re building, I’d love to hear about it.
