Welcome, Weary Traveler: Finding a Soft Place to Land

There is a moment when life veers off its map—when heartbreak, loss, and disappointment arrive all at once, pressing so hard that even the smallest breath feels like survival.

For me, that moment came after my divorce, while I was working to heal the tender fractures in my family and reeling from an unexpected layoff that left me unemployed. Everything familiar seemed to fall away at once, leaving me face to face with questions I didn’t know how to answer.

In the wake of it all, I made a choice that broke me open and saved me at the same time. I rented out my house and moved to Mexico.

There are times when life delivers us to the edge—when the ground we’ve always trusted gives way and all we can see ahead is uncertainty. Standing there can feel terrifying, but it can also be clarifying. At the edge, we are stripped of pretense. At the edge, we hear the truth inside us more clearly.

Moving to Mexico was my edge. It was stepping into the unknown, carrying only the conviction that something had to change. It was a wilderness decision, one that asked me to trust the voice inside that whispered of survival, of courage, of the possibility of beginning again.

If you’ve landed here, I want to say this first: welcome. This space was created as a soft place to land—not because I have all the answers, but because I know what it is to wander, to wrestle with belonging, to feel uprooted.

ElnoraLife is my way of offering shelter. A pause. A corner of the internet where we can exhale together. Here, I’ll share stories from my own journey—growing up, searching for home across different places, navigating family complexities, and finding meaning in the midst of uncertainty. Some stories will be tender, others raw, but all will be honest.

What I hope you find here is not perfection, but resonance. A reminder that you are not alone in carrying your questions or your weariness.

In the weeks ahead, I’ll be sharing:

  • Reflections on family and forgiveness

  • Thoughts about belonging and place—Mexico, Chicago, Atlanta, and beyond

  • Gentle practices that help us rest, reflect, and reimagine our lives

  • Invitations to share your stories in community through newsletters, workshops and circles

This is not a map with every step marked. It’s a lantern—just enough light to guide the next few steps.

So, weary traveler, settle in. Take a breath. Let your belly expand and your shoulders soften. You’ve arrived at a place where your story matters, where you can rest for a while, and where new possibilities may begin to take shape.

Welcome to ElnoraLife. May this be your soft place to land.
